One of the first to bloom after great disturbance and wildfire… the Fireweed. And as the blooms move from bottom to top, you watch the passing days of summer with it’s fluffy seeds signaling fall and the return to the earth. This painting was inspired by watching the many phases of Fireweed across the Alaskan landscape while on a family road trip as well as by visits to the more local summit of Mount Spokane.
